The Trillium Lake Loop is a short, 2-mile walk around the lake that provides excellent perspectives on the former meadow, the current reservoir and the mountain that overlooks all of it.  The trail includes several well-built boardwalks that keep you close to the water as you tour the lake.  The Mud Creek Dam along the southern shore, built in 1960, is an ideal spot to pause and appreciate Mount Hood.  A thick marsh of bullrush and Douglas's spiraea lies on the western shore, while the north shore includes an extensive network of boardwalks.  Return to the east shore for the campground and day-use area.
