Built in 1934 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the Tilly Jane Guard Station is the oldest existing structure on Mount Hood. Located near tree line at 5,700 feet, this rustic and cozy retreat is ideally situated for skiing, snowshoeing, and other winter activities in the Cooper Spur area on the northeast flank of Mount Hood. It is available yearly from December through June.

During the winter and spring months, Tilly Jane Guard Station is accessible from the Tilly Jane Sno-Park. From here users can ski or snow shoe to the Guard Station via the steep 2.5 mile Tilly Jane Trail, or by way of the gently sloping Cloud Cap Road that winds for more than 9 miles.

The cabin features a full kitchen with gas stove and a small wood stove (utensils and cooking pots provided), a sleeping loft, a living room featuring a large fireplace (firewood is provided), and an external pit toilet connected to the cabin by an enclosed hallway. It sleeps up to eight people. During the summer months water is available from a nearby spring, and during the winter snow can be melted using several large pots.

A wide variety of hiking, snowshoeing, and skiing opportunities are accessible from the cabin, including the Cooper Spur area and the Timberline Trail.
