Just outside of Oakridge, Oregon, the Salmon Creek Trail is great for intermediate riders looking to improve their skills as well beginners just starting to explore mildly technical singletrack. This ride includes everything from twisty, rooted singletrack and loose rocks to small creek crossings and wide, smooth dirt sections. The trail runs along Salmon Creek and offers many great views, a few unimproved campsites and a number of swimming opportunities. Salmon Creek Falls Campground is at the upper trailhead and offers beautiful sites located on the bank above a charming section of the creek. The falls turn into a swimming hole in late summer when the water drops enough to make the water safe enough for swimming. Salmon Creek Road is always nearby and is accessible at a number of points along the trail. The great camping along this trail makes it an ideal base camp for a weekend of mountain biking in the greater Oakridge area.
