The Hide and Seek Trail is a great way to introduce yourself to the Sandy Ridge Trail System. This network of trails, located on a ridge above the Sandy River, is maintained by the Northwest Trail Alliance, and is an excellent resource for mountain bikers in the Portland metro area.

After a challenging climb, the trail winds its way through a forest of Douglas fir, western hemlock, and western red cedar. The upper section of the trail is more technical than the section below the cut off. Roots, rocks, switchbacks, and a rock staircase make the upper section of the trail a little tricky at times, but nothing a seasoned rider would balk at. The bottom section of the trail has a more “flowing” rhythm, with concrete pavers placed around banked corners to provide grip as you rip through turns. Small features are sprinkled throughout the trail as well, inviting you to go as big as you like.
