The out-and-back ride from Shadow Bay Boat Ramp to Bobby Lake is one of the easiest and most rewarding rides in the Waldo Lake area. The Betty Lake Trail climbs up to Waldo Lake Road, passes some small alpine lakes, and reaches Betty Lake just before it meets the road. Be ready for narrow singletrack with a few rooted and rocky sections. The Bobby Lake Trail is just across Waldo Lake Road, and this trail is wider and less technical than the Betty Lake Trail. This trail technically ends at the Pacific Crest Trail.  After a few hundred yards on the PCT, continue a short distance on the Moore Creek Trail to reach the western end of Bobby Lake, a great place to stop for lunch before returning to Shadow Bay.

Note: The Waldo Lake area is infamous for its mosquitos, and this ride is no exception. If you come before the end of August, bring bug spray if you want to stop and enjoy the scenery.
