Dorris Ranch, on the western edge of Springfield, offers a unique chance to experience an historic filbert orchard and walk along the Middle Fork of the Willamette River. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Dorris Ranch is recognized as the first commercial filbert orchard in the country, and it is still in operation to this day. It was started in 1892 by George and Lulu Dorris.
Besides strolling through the acres of filbert trees, visitors can walk through riparian forest along the Middle Fork of the Willamette, look at historic buildings and farm equipment, or participate in one of many community events put on by the City of Springfield. There are also facilities in the park that are available for rent by the public. A barn on the property is popular as a wedding venue.
