Nestled in the southeast hills of Eugene, Hendricks Park offers two distinct experiences to visitors. The world-renowned rhododendron garden is full of manicured gravel paths, stunning old-growth rhododendrons, and hundreds of tastefully maintained decorative plantings. The forested portion of the park encompasses a much larger area and includes a mix of disused roadways and narrow, sometimes muddy footpaths that wind through a wilder and more native habitat dominated by 200 year old Douglas firs. Both sides of Eugene's oldest city park are worth exploring and are a short trip from downtown and the University of Oregon.
