A short and simple stop, Mirador Buena Vista sits above 10,000 feet in Ecuador's northern region of the Andes Mountain range. From this location the view is 180 degrees over a dramatic mountainous, volcanic landscape. Due to the elevation, the mountain range, and the close proximity to the equator, the weather is fast changing here. While this means you can get rained on, it also means you're likely in for a dramatic view of clouds, sunrays, and sparsely populated countryside.

While the view is breathtaking, there are no amenities at Mirador Buena Vista. Becuse of this, the special destination is best mixed with another activity or destination in the area, such as birdwatching, photography, and/or a visit to Mojanda Lake.

Traveling to this rather remote destination is quick and affordable from the town of Otavalo. A taxi can take you up the mountainside and wait while you explore the area at a cost of less than $20.
