Albion Basin Campground is located at the very top of Little Cottonwood Canyon in the Wasatch Range. The setting is quite spectacular: Devils Castle and Sugarloaf Mountain watch over the area, and the ground is literally covered with wildflowers in summer. The trailhead for the Cecret Lake Hike begins at the entrance to this campground, and the Catherine's Pass Trail is just up the hill from here as well. Keep an eye out for moose, yellow-bellied marmots, blue grouse, and rufous hummingbirds.

Like many great places in the Wasatch, you won't need to travel far to experience such an incredible area. The tiny town of Alta, once known as the wildest town in the old west, sits just below, and it provides a few restaurant and bar options. Alta has become a popular spot year round, so reservations might have to be made in advance if you are visiting in peak season. Summer temperatures are perfect for camping and hiking.

Note that, due to altitude and snowpack, the open season for Albion Basin Campground frequently starts in July and ends in the beginning of September.
