Perhaps the most notable thing about Maple Lake is its seclusion. It sits well over a mile from the main scenic Nebo Loop that runs up Payson Canyon. In addition to that, the limited number of sites gives it a peaceful, relaxed feel.

You will find beautiful views over the small, tranquil lake. It provides opportunities for fishing, swimming, or canoes. Several day use picnic areas surround the lake should you just want a quick stop along the way to other adventures. The campground offers immediate access to the Red Lake Trailhead, which extends off the south end of the campground, as well as several unmarked paths and trails. It is a popular area for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding.

One possible downside is the limited number of sites. However, the nearby Maple Bench Campground, on the same road only half a mile from the Nebo Loop, provides another 10 campsites with many of the same benefits.
