Utah Lake is the largest freshwater lake in Utah at 148 square miles, and it offers the surrounding urban area marvelous recreational opportunities. Established as a park since the 1930s when the Civilian Conservation Corps built the marina at the request of local residents who wanted a way to fish the lake year around, Utah Lake State park today offers a myriad of activities.
There is a very nice campground for tenters or RVs, and there are four boat ramps in the sheltered marina in addition to the outside beach boat launch area. A general store with rental kayaks and SUPs is open in summer. The day use picnic area is a huge grassy area with shade trees and several concrete pads with picnic facilities for small or large groups. Playground structures, horseshoe pits, sand volleyball...there is so much to do for families. For a break from all the outdoor activities, the visitor center has exhibits about the history and natural history of the area.
