Tucked in the foothills of Okanagon-Wenatchee National Forest, Cayuse Horse Campground is a great resource for those exploring the area by horse. It sits just outside the Alpine Lakes Wilderness near Salmon la Sac Campground, and it is in a prime location for access to multiple horse and hiking trails. Ride along scenic rivers, fish, or boat in lakes nestled below rugged peaks, and enjoy the wildness of the Washington Cascades.

The campground offers 14 equestrian campsites, 16 corrals, several water troughs, and ample parking for large horse trailers. Tall conifers surround the sites, and high ridges are just visible beyond the tree line, making the campground feel remote and private.

From the south end of Cayuse, ride on a short trail that leads directly to Salmon la Sac Trailhead. Explore a portion of the famous Pacific Crest Trail, ride to Cooper Lake, or ride the longer distance to beautiful Waptus Lake for the day or overnight.
