Situated between the Cooper and Cle Elum Rivers, Salmon la Sac Campground is a perfect place for friends and family to gather. A myriad of hikes start just a half mile away, nearby Cle Elum Lake offers an expansive motor boating area, and swimming or fishing is popular in rivers and lakes alike. Tall fir trees, a backdrop of grand ridges, and two rushing rivers make this campground a beautiful convergence of natural scenery.
One of the larger campgrounds in the area, Salmon la Sac hosts 69 sites, some on the open riverside and others in dense forest. All of the sites have ample parking for multiple vehicles, and a number of spacious group sites are available for parties of up to 12 people. A day use picnic shelter is available, and check there for postings about educational programs for kids to learn about local plant and animal life.
There are a multitude of recreational activities available near the campground. Leave from Salmon la Sac trailhead and hike to Waptus Lake, Cooper Lake, or Polallie Ridge for the day. In the heat of summer, use inner tubes to float down the calmer sections of Cooper and Cle Elum Rivers, or bring a canoe and paddle around Cooper Lake.
