Located just down Sol Duc Road from Sol Duc Hot Springs, this campground is a good alternative if accommodation at the resort is either booked or if you are in the mood for a little more fresh air with your evenings. The campground is arranged in two loops, each with access to water and restrooms. Loop A is a little closer to the resort, while Loop B is located 2.8 miles from Sol Duc Falls and can be accessed directly via the Sol Duc River Trail. Both loops have an assortment of sites right on the banks of the Sol Duc River, so be sure to have a look around if you arrive and see a few of these sites taken.
Amenities are limited to restrooms and potable water (neither operate from October 1 to May 1), picnic tables and fire rings. The resort is just up the road, however, and you will find a general store and a restaurant in case you'd rather skip the camp stove. You can also purchase firewood there, though keep in mind that while this campground is open all year, the resort is not. You'll find 70 sites without hookups that are mostly spacious and set amongst the trees, and there are 12 walk-in sites that are also private and nicely situated. The 17 sites with water and electric hookups are very utilitarian: this area is really a parking lot that receives some shade from surrounding trees, and there isn't much space between sites.
Note: Sol Duc Campground is open typically open from the end of May through the end of October and managed by Aramark along with Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort. Call 888.896.3818 for more details.
