The North Cascades Lodge at Stehekin is a little bit of rustic paradise tucked deep into the eastern edge North Cascades mountain range in Central Washington State. Their remote location at the “quiet end” of Lake Chelan is part of the charm and challenge of this place, as there are no roads into the community. The only way to get here is by hiking, sea plane or ferry boat.

The world-class hiking trails through the wilderness and ruggedness of the park lures hikers, backpackers and mountaineers to the area. Visitors will thoroughly enjoy relaxing on the lodge's decks as the sky and mountains reflects in the water. The lakeside setting beneath glacier-clad peaks that jut almost vertically from thickly forested valleys is truly unique.

The Lodge at Stehekin is a great facility to use as a base camp for outdoor adventures. The lodge is home to the only full service restaurant (breakfast, lunch, dinner, beer and wine) and the only general store in the community. Here you can find groceries, sundries and camping needs. Rooms range from a simple room and private bath (Alpine House, $140 a night), to well-appointed lake view rooms (Swissmont, $195 to $220 a night) to kitchen cabin units sleeping between two and six people (Cabins, $200 to $230 per night). The Lake House, a 4 bedroom house that sleeps 12 guests ($500 a night), is better for larger groups.  The lodge operates the Red Bus Shuttle that will take guests to nearby trailheads. Kayak and canoe rentals are operated out of the general store. There is also limited Wi-Fi available on the deck.

The Lodge at Stehekin offers a “Backpackers Support Program,” making it easier to access the lodge. Lodge guests hiking into Stehekin can send their luggage up on the Lady of the Lake boat, or they can mail supply boxes of your city clothes; the lodge will be happy to store supplies for you until your arrival. Visitors can make a stay at The Lodge at Stehekin as active or relaxing as they choose.

Full operation of the lodge, restaurant and general store is May 15 through October 15. Kitchen units are available off season. The restaurant and general store is closed October 16 through May 14.
