This small day use area may be just what you're searching for if you are looking to stretch your legs after a long drive on Highway 101 or if you are in need of some casual, less crowded access to Lake Crescent. La Poel Day Use Area is all about convenient access. While the sounds of the highway are part of the reality of this area, the dense tree canopy and fantastic lake views tend to minimize the highway's impact for this small park, once a campground. A small strip of beach is large enough to lay out some towels, and you'll find a grassy area with picnic tables and fire pits if you are there for lunch. Small and casual, La Poel Day Use Area is a great option for Lake Crescent access off of Highway 101.

If in search for other beaches at Lake Crescent, explore Lake Crescent Lodge's Beach, Fairholme Beach on the lake's west end, East Beach and the waterfront at Log Cabin Resort. All of which however will certainly be more crowded than La Poel.
