Despite the 90-degree (and very humid) heat, an estimated 2,500 people came out to Bauhaus Brew Labs for the 2018 Outdoor Project Minneapolis Block Party to celebrate the outdoor community, raise money for local nonprofit Big City Mountaineers, and to drink delicious craft beer by one of Minneapolis's best breweries. The event started Saturday, September 15 at 12 p.m. and ran until 9 p.m. The free party included gear demos from outdoor brands, a massive raffle giveaway with over $2,000 in gear hosted by Gear Junkie, live music, street games, food trucks, and great beer.

Live (and INCREDIBLE!) music was provided by Minneapolis hometown duo Strange Hotels (now residing in Portland, Oregon) and Armchair Boogie from Madison, Wisconsin. Gear Junkie provided FB live recording and video coverage of the event and can be viewed here

A huge thanks to all of our 2018 Minneapolis sponsors:

And an even larger thanks to Bauhaus Brew Labs for not only being our on-site host but for also donating 10% of beer sales to Big City Mountaineers!

KEEN: Better Takes Action

Along with supporting local nonprofits and organizations, KEEN was on-site to share their Better Takes Action campaign and empower fans through KEEN's mobile action center. KEEN's on-site activation promotes voter registration, educates participants about causes related to the environment and our public lands, and encourages people to take action by calling their local elected officials to express their opinions.

Big City Mountaineers

In close partnership with local youth development agencies in six cities across the United States including Minneapolis, Big City Mountaineers (BCM) pairs adult mentors with teens for a week-long wilderness trip or Overnight Camp geared toward measurably improving self-esteem, responsibility, decision-making abilities, and communication skills, serving close to 1,000 youth annually.

We look forward to celebrating adventure and community with all of you at our next Block Party!

“From the inception of this campaign, we set out with a simple goal: to inspire a call to action for our fans, our community, and our employees to engage their civic voice to protect open spaces and drive positive outcomes,” says Tyler LaMotte, Chief Marketing Officer at KEEN. “As a brand dedicated to making leading products for our fans to experience life outside, the aim is that together we can take action today for a better tomorrow.”

Whether it’s helping create a better world for future generations or enjoying better adventures today with our families, the only way to make anything better is to do something about it.
