To celebrate an awesome summer of adventures and get everyone excited for the upcoming winter adventure season, we held a party at Base Camp Brewing Company on Sunday, November 17. It was an entertaining event attended by over 150 friends, fans, and Outdoor Project community members.

With over 300 new adventures added to Outdoor Project this summer, we took time out to thank the contributors that continue to make the website what it is. Prizes for the most and best adventure submissions were given out. The winners were:

  • First Prize for Best Adventure: Joshua Lupkin for Mount Rainier’s Disappointment Cleaver - $300 Pro Photo Supply Gift Certificate
  • Second Prize for Best Adventure: Halvor Tweto for his coverage of the John Day River - $200 Pro Photo Supply Gift Certificate
  • Best Write-up: Chris Young for Cleetwood Cove - $100 US Outdoor Store Gift Certificate
  • Best Photo: Race Jones’ capture of the Neskowin Ghost Forest - $100 Plywerk Gift Certificate
  • Best Video: Kevin Freeny’s story of the annual migration of Vaux’s Swifts to Chapman Elementary School - $200 Pro Photo Supply Gift Certificate.
  • First Most Adventures: Halvor Tweto - $500 Pro Photo Supply Gift Certificate
  • Second Most Adventures: Shane Kucera - $300 Pro Photo Supply Gift Certificate
  • Third Most Adventures: Heron Marychild - GoPro Camera or $250 Pro Photo Supply Gift Certificate
  • Fourth Most Adventures: Joshua Lupkin - $200 US Outdoor Store Gift Certificate
  • Fifth Most Adventures: Andrew Stohner - GoPro Camera or $250 Pro Photo Supply Gift Certificate

Another important goal for Outdoor Project this summer was to build partnerships with non-profit organizations focused on outdoor conservation and education. The party was a great way to share with our members the great work being done in these fields. As a business, we want to do more than help people find great places to go for outdoor adventures, and we created OutdoorProject.org to raise funds and build awareness toward this goal. A raffle benefiting our partners, Oregon Wild, Friends of Outdoor School, World Salmon Council, and Westwind Stewardship Group, raised $720 to go toward their efforts, and we hope everyone at the party gained a better understanding of the critical work these organizations do. Raffle prizes were generously donated by US Outdoor Store, Base Camp Brewing Company, Westwind, Friends of Outdoor School, World Salmon Council, Icebreaker, and we threw in a few prizes too.

From all of us at Outdoor Project, we hope everyone has an exciting, inspiring, and safe winter full of time spent in the outdoors. Remember to read our blog and follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for updates and ideas on where to go this winter. Happy adventures!
