Cox's Bay Reserve Loop is an easy hike located in Auckland. This trail explores one of Auckland’s many parks. The path is mostly paved but has some sections of boardwalk and grass trail. This figure eight loop is 1 mile long and gains 68 feet of elevation.

This hike starts from the parking area off of W End Rd. Begin hiking northwest on a paved path. Shortly after you begin, the trail will turn right. You will now have a fantastic view of Cox’s Bay across the road. You will also enjoy views of Auckland’s Sky Tower in the opposite direction. Continue hiking along the edge of sports fields. After you have been hiking for 0.1 miles, the trail begins to parallel Cox’s Creek. There are many benches along the trail that provide a great place to stop and rest. Another 0.2 miles down the trail, there is a small section of wetland. After another 0.1 miles, you will come to a junction and go left onto a bridge over Cox’s Creek.

Cross the bridge and go right to begin a small loop section. Hike uphill for about 0.1 miles before following a faint grass trail back down the hill for 0.1 miles to connect with the bridge. Cross over the bridge again and go straight at the junction. Once again, you will be hiking along the perimeter of sports fields. You will also have views of the picturesque Cox’s Bay in the distance. After 0.3 miles, you will pass a bathroom and continue to the parking area.

Cox’s Bay Reserve is open for hiking year-round. There are no associated fees to hike here. Dogs are allowed on this trail as long as they are on a leash. Cox’s Bay Loop is great for getting a quick hike in while enjoying ocean views.
