This hike starts from the Broadway trailhead outside of Apache Junction.  The trail enters Tonto National Forest with excellent views of the Superstition Wilderness.  This section of the trail is the most enjoyable and easy to follow.  After 1.2 miles, the trail leaves Tonto National Forest and follows a fence line that borders the Superstititon Wilderness.

Once out of the national forest, the trail becomes very rocky with many twists and turns. This seems to have been set up for mountain bikers.  The trail is flat and really no need for so many turns.  These twists and turns make the hike much longer than it needs to be.  After 2.7 miles from the trailhead, the Goldmine trail  turns right and trails south, still following the fence line.

In another 1.3 miles, the trail ends at another gate in front of a community.  Turn back and re-trace the trail back to the Broadway Trailhead.
