This out-and-back trail is a hidden gem for those seeking to explore the tranquility of the outdoors, away from the bustling crowds. The trail, a hidden gem within the Paiute Wilderness Area, stretches from the Virgin River Gorge Canyon to the ridgeline near Mount Bangs, presenting a blend of serene river walks, challenging ascents, and geological wonders.

Starting at the Virgin River Campground area, right off Highway 15, the trailhead is conveniently accessible. Hikers begin their journey alongside the Virgin River, then venture into a captivating canyon framed by towering cliffs, before ascending towards the Virgin Mountain ridgeline.

The trail winds around next to the river, occasionally climbing up and over the surrounding cliffs.

Hikers will look for signs and cairns to help lead the way towards Sullivan’s Canyon, where the terrain transitions into a wash winding through volcanic and sandstone formations. The path is rocky, with ankle-twisting potential, but free from giant boulder hopping. Desert willows may be present to provide shade and a nice break from the heat of the day. An abandoned jeep road leading up to the mountain ridgeline marks the turn-around point, with an option to extend the hike to Mount Bangs' summit for those seeking further adventure.

The trail's moderate difficulty level is balanced to engage both novice adventurers seeking a challenge and experienced hikers craving exploration.
