Ambergris Caye beach rules: In Belize, the rules are such that, while private residences and businesses may have beachfront land, the shoreline 60 feet from the water belongs to the government and people of Belize and is to remain publicly accessible along with all docks for public foot use between sunrise and sunset. While erosion is a factor, and some will put up Private and No Trespassing signs, this is the spirit of beach access in Belize. Also, while anyone can access the beaches or docks, this access does not apply to things such as structures, hammocks, or chairs.
