Golden Stream swimming hole is a cool refreshing bend in the river at the site of a former bridge in the town of Hellgate. Located just a few minutes north of the town of Golden Stream, the swimming hole is an emerald pool where the flow slows. The hole is a popular swimming spot, as well as an area where those in the village of Hellgate adjacent to the river came to do laundry.

The shady area and cool water may make it slightly less than ideal for swimming here on cool days, but the beautiful scene and waterfall cascades that can be found by following a network of footpaths upstream make it worth a stop. The river is about neck deep at its deepest point in the dry season, though this may change during the wet season. Snacks and drinks can be found for sale in the village nearby. Reaching the swimming hole requires driving a couple miles down the main dirt road through Hellgate until the road ends at the site of a former bridge. A few steps down the slope here takes you right to the riverbank.
