The Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park in Nashville was opened on June 1, 1996, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the establishment of Tennessee's statehood. The park is filled with historic memorials and offers a fascinating glimpse at the past. Stunning views of the state capitol building and downtown Nashville can also be found from the park.
One of the more intriguing features is the Pathway of History. This is simply a wall that has been engraved with all the major historical events that have occurred in the first 200 years of Tennessee's statehood. At the end of this walkway you will find the Court of Three Stars, which is encircled by a 95-bell carillon. From the Court of Three Stars, be sure to take in the spectacular view to the southeast across the park and toward the state capitol building.
Parking is available along 6th and 7th Avenues. If time allows, check out the Nashville Farmer’s Market next door. A great spot for lunch, the Farmer’s Market also houses many shops where you can find locally made crafts and goodies.
