The world of rock climbing used to be entirely focused on the outdoors. Now it’s way more common to learn the ropes, so to speak, indoors at a climbing gym than it is to get out and crush it on real rocks. While there’s a time and a place for rock climbing gyms, certainly, there’s nothing quite as mind blowing as these jaw-dropping climbing destinations that get you outside and on the crag.

From the towering granite walls of the Sierra, the red pillars of Utah, the rainy rocks of B.C., the ocean cliffs of Maine, or on your local crag, rock climbing destinations are also some of the world’s most incredible outdoor destinations. Looking at this list, it’s easy to see why:
