It's been hot in Portland and Saturday was no exception. The heat did not stop us from welcoming summer at our Second Annual Summer Solstice Block Party at Base Camp Brewing. All in all, we had 30 outdoor vendors, a free yoga class, live music, a marching band, a collabobrew with Buoy Brewing and 2,500 people who joined the summer celebration.
Thoughout the day people had a chance to connect with some of their favorite outdoor brands and even challenge them to a game of corn hole or giant jenga. We can't thank all of our event sponsors enough for making the day so much fun. All of our sponsors kept the crew smiling with great outdoor games, amazing prizes, gear giveaways and exciting conversations about summer adventure (Deviation USA had us thinking about the snow, too).
From Next Adventure's Bobbing for Biners in an ice bucket, Mountain Shop's mountain bike course, KEEN's river-worthy couches, US Outdoor Store's "Water" Pong table, EVO's bike ring challenge, passes from the Portland Rock Gym to The Nature Conservancy's Tie-Dye station and Oregon Wild running Hammerslaghen, you all did an amazing job in helping us bring the outdoor community together for one hot, but awesome block party!
As evening rolled in, so did more live music. LoveBomb Go-Go marched their way through the event followed by local band, Ezra Bell. Jackalope Saints got the crowd dancing with their lively folk tunes. Portland based string-band, Crow and the Canyon, sang as the sun set on the Summer Solstice PDX party.
If you have photos from the event, please tag them with #SummerSolsticePDX on your social channels. We hope you had a great time and look forward to seeing you again next year!
