Author and lifelong river runner Tim Palmer took Oregon Field Guide on a tour of his favorite rivers in Oregon. The state offers so much variety for rafters, canoers and kayakers. Some are very technical whitewater, requiring the skills to run waterfalls and class V rapids. Others are less intense, making them one of the easiest ways to get away from civilization.

Tim has authored numerous guidebooks to rivers, including one just for Oregon, the Field Guide of Oregon Rivers. I'd paraphrase some of Tim's comments on why being on a river is such a great experience, but he tells it so well you should just watch for yourself. See below Outdoor Project's guides to just a few rivers in Oregon, and then check out Tim's book to get guides to the rest.
