Box Canyon Creek flows into northwest side of Little Kachess Lake, and just about a mile before it meets the lake the creek offers a perfect swimming hole with good access and cliff jumping opportunities. The parking area is just slightly to the right side of the road, there are nearby campsites including some that are alongside the river, and the walk to the swimming hole is extremely short with only a few steps before you reach the large rock platforms above the swimming hole.

When the river isn't at its highest flow, there are rocks that can be easily stepped on to get to the other side of the river. The lower swimming hole is deeper and slower moving water. The upper swimming hole is right before the waterfall and moves at a somewhat fast pace.

The cliff jumping spots are limited due to some overhangs, leaving the highest one at only 20 feet. The waterfall creates a deep place for jumping, so stay close to the falls, but do not jump into them. The powerful waterfall moves most rocks and logs away and creates a deeper hole, but after some winter seasons there may be hidden rocks, so test the water depth to be sure. Hazards such as rocks and log jams are likely farther away from the waterfall's pool.
