Boulder Flat Campground is a basic camping area with 21 sites at an elevation of around 5665' along the Sonora Pass Highway.

With sites laid out along a narrow paved loop road, Boulder Flat is ideal for those camping with single automobiles. Each basic site contains a picnic bench and fire pit, with several water spigots and two vault toilet buildings spread throughout the campground. While the flat sits just upslope from the Stanislaus River, there is no immediate access to the water from the campground.

Campers can select a site and then self pay at the entrance station. The campground has several sites that are set amidst the trees and positioned for epic views of the surrounding mountains, while those who arrive late during the busy weekends might be forced to opt for one of the sites that sits immediately adjacent to Highway 108. All sites are non-reservable and fill up at a first come, first served basis only.

Boulder Flat Campground has no surrounding developments and stays quiet with the exception of the highway traffic. Originally built and run as a Forest Service campground, the Dodge Ridge Corporation currently manages Boulder Flat.

Boulder Flat's operating season is dependent upon winter conditions. Typically the campground is open from May through October.
