Boulder Gulch Campground is probably the most scenic of the Forest Service campgrounds on the shores of Lake Isabella.

At 58 camp sites in the Sequoia National Forest boundary, Boulder Gulch has a variety of sites and site types while having views of the lake and surrounding mountains. Each site is basic, containing a table and fire pit. While the area itself is not actually that large, the variety of terrain over the two loops makes the space feel much bigger. There are shaded, exposed and bouldery areas where camp sites sit.

Bathroom facilities have flush toilets and showers. The campground's location in the lake basin tends to give it warmer temperatures during the summer months than the campgrounds located north of Kernville along the upper Kern River.

The lake is in walking distance, as is the Isabella Peak trailhead located directly across Wofford Heights Blvd.

Boulder Gulch Campground is open each year from about mid-April through late September. Campers can arrive and pay onsite during most times, however reservations are required during holiday weekends.
