The Calcite Narrows Loop is a short 4.2-mile adventure through dry washes and interesting slot canyons. The trail is rated easy to moderate and features sandstone slot canyons, the Calcite Mine, and scenic views of Anza-Borrego State Park. This loop is suitable for trail running, hiking, and backpacking.

Access to the trailhead is easy, located east of Borrego Springs, California, off S22. A short descent leads into Palm Wash. After 1.7 miles the wash intersects with Calcite Mine Road. Turn left on the road to explore Calcite Mine. After the mine, return back to the junction and head east, leaving Calcite Mine Road and joining the Calcite Mine Narrows Trail. At mile 3.2 the trail turns into Palm Wash. Stay right at the junction at mile 3.5. At mile 3.6 you will reconnect with the Calcite Mine Road. Turn right on Calcite Mine Road, continue southeast for about half a mile until you reach the Calcite Mine Trailhead and the parking area where you began.
