The Grimshaw Lake Natural Area is an area of BLM land near the basin through which flows the Amargosa River between the Tecopa commercial area and hot springs area.

Accessed via a short gravel road, a parking allows visitors to view across the Tecopa Basin and the underground river section and grassy areas. Grimshaw Lake itself is visible a short distance to the south.

From the edge of the parking lot, a trailhead leads to the Grimshaw Lake Nature Trail which traces a section of the old Tonopah and Tidewater Railroad, leading toward other small lakes and landscapes within the natural area.

With the lake named after Edwin Grimshaw who first dammed a hot spring fed stream in the mountains to create the lake to attract ducks to hunt. Erosion has reduced the size of the lake, however the area continues to attract ducks. The marsh and wetlands area is essentially an oasis in the desert.

There are no fees to visit the Natural Area. The area also contains no amenities of any kind. There is no shade, and no improvements aside from a couple wooden benches and sign posts marking the trail. Visitors will very likely find themselves the only ones at the Natural Area.
