The Humbug Creek Trail is a shady multi use trail paralleling either side of the creek as it snakes through neighborhood developments near Folsom, offering trail users the chance to enter a larger network of neighborhood trails.

Running through the Humbug-Willow Creek Basin, this trail system is a destination, as well as having many access points from the adjacent neighborhoods, making it popular for everyone from the spandexed road cycling crowd to afternoon dog walkers to runners making use of the dirt paths often running right next to the paved portions of the trail. With multiple entry points, as well as numerouns bridges crossing over the small creek, the Humbug Creek Trail is easy to modify for the desired distance.

There are a couple small features of interest such as interpretive signs set along the meadows the trail passes through, or elevated vista points on platforms that offer a nice break from the otherwise mostly flat path.

Thick trees provide lots of shade along the trail. Though the dense foliage along with the smaller size of the creek mean that there's very little visible water along this hike.

Humbug Creek traces a portion of Folsom's larger interconnected trail system. There are quite a few places like bicycle shops, parks and playgrounds, cafes, markets, and rock gardens that can be accessed from this adjacent trail system. Trail users may benefit from looking at a map beforehand and customizing their route.

There is free parking at parks and on streets along the trail. The trail system is open, however hours and restrictions may apply for parking areas.
