Begin your hike at Olivia Terrace, where you’ll quickly find yourself on the Chandler Motorway. This initial segment provides gentle inclines and broad views of the surrounding area. As you progress, the trail descends into the heart of Stough Canyon, a serene and less-traveled path that allows for a peaceful connection with nature.
The descent offers lush views as you move through dense vegetation, which is home to an array of Southern California flora and fauna. After fully exploring Stough Canyon, prepare for the ascent into Wildwood Canyon. This climb is both rewarding and challenging, with steep sections that test your endurance but also offer rewarding vistas of the Verdugo Mountains and beyond.
At the summit of Wildwood Canyon, take a moment to enjoy the panoramic views before continuing on the Chandler Motorway for your return journey. FLORA AND FAUNA
The Verdugo Mountains host a variety of ecosystems, from chaparral and coastal sage scrub to oak woodlands in the more shaded canyons. Spring hikers will be treated to vibrant displays of wildflowers, including lupines, poppies, and sagebrush. Wildlife in the area includes mule deer, coyotes, bobcats, and numerous bird species, offering ample opportunities for wildlife viewing and photography.
WHEN TO VISIT
The trail is accessible year-round however the ideal times to visit are late fall to early spring to avoid the summer heat.

Shade: The trail offers little to no shade, making it particularly hot in the summer months. It's advisable to start early in the day and bring ample water, sunscreen, and a hat.
