Onion Valley Campground is a scenic campground situated along the eastern Sierra Nevada about 15 miles west of Independence, CA. This high elevation campground is surrounded by granite peaks, alpine lakes, and waterfalls. With its location along a creek and access to the John Muir Wilderness and Kings Canyon National Park nearby, the campground is a popular spot for hiking, running, fishing, and backpacking.

DIRECTIONS

From Highway 395 turn west on Market Street and follow the winding paved road for 15 miles until you reach a dead end where you will find day use parking, trailheads, and the Onion Valley Campground.  

SEASONS

The road to the campground is usually open from May to November, depending on the weather and snow conditions and the campground facilities close October 31st.
