Ortega Flats Campground is one of several campgrounds inside Caspers Wilderness Park in South Orange County.

As each campground appeals to a specific style of camper, Ortega Flats is meant for those camping in RVs looking for water and electrical hookups. Each of the 13 sites has a gravel parking space large enough for medium sized RVs with water and electrical included. The camp sites sit on a couple small loops along the well graded gravel road. There are some trees around that offer varying amounts of shade over the course of the day.

Each campsite has a table and fire pit. There are water spigots and outhouses also placed throughout the campground.

Campers can enjoy other features inside the park, such as hiking trails, playgrounds, a visitors center and historic structures. However Ortega Flats is probably the campground located furthest from these other areas of interest inside the park. There are walking trails connecting most areas.

One area inside the campground is reserved for day use parking for those accessing the trails within the campground, particularly the San Juan Creek Trail that begins at the end of the campground.

An RV dump station is available near the exit of the park adjacent to the entrance booth.

Reservations can be made online by visiting the Orange County Parks website and scrolling down to the Ronald W. Caspers Regional Park option.

As of 2022, low well levels had made all water inside the park unavailable. Park visitors can check the Caspers Wilderness Park website for the most up to date information.
