The Sad Boulders are a popular bouldering area located just outside of Bishop, California. Like the next-door Happy Boulders, the Sad Boulders offer an array of problems to climb.

The Sad Boulders are located in the Volcanic Tablelands, a unique environment formed 750,000 years ago by the eruption of the Long Valley Caldera. Climbers can park below, and hike up the volcanic plateau to access the boulders.

The majority of problems at the Sads are within the V5 - V10 range, but beginners will still find many boulders in the V0 - V3 range.

Although camping is not allowed in the lower parking area, many climbers will head up onto the Volcanic Tablelands where it is BLM land and find convenient dispersed camping near the bouldering area.
