This short hike is an excellent option for anyone looking to get out for a brief adventure close to town. The trail follows a paved multi-use pathway that is great for hiking, jogging or biking.

To begin, park at the Mammoth Library. You’ll then follow the College Connector pathway as it parallels Meridian Boulevard for a short distance, then passes beside the Community College.

After passing the Community College the trail descends until it meet up with the Town Loop pathway. Turn left.

Follow this pathway until you reach Sherwin’s Vista, just to the right.

At the vista you’ll find a picnic table and several benches, as well as trash cans. The views from here are simply stunning, stretching across the Long Valley Caldera to the White Mountains in the distance. There are also informative plaques telling of the history and geology of the area at the vista.

When you’ve finished soaking in the views, return the way you came back to the library.
