Shields Flat Camp is a primitive backcountry camp located in the San Gorgonio Wilderness off of the Forsee Creek Trail. This camp is accessible by foot and provides access to trails leading to nearby peaks such as Anderson Peak, San Bernardino Peak, Alto Diablo Peak. This camp is truly a primitive experience with no amenities. The nearest potential water source is located near Fork Springs Camp. All water must be filtered before consumption. 

Shields Flat Camp is a great destination for anyone looking to do some backpacking in San Bernardino National Forest or someone who is just trying to get away from the city and enjoy a nice, quiet night in the forest. The trail leading into Shield’s Camp is accessible within a 1.5-2 hours of Los Angeles.  Forsee Creek Trailhead can also be reached easily from Big Bear, Ca.

RESTRICTIONS

  • Group camping is available at this primitive site, however, the group size is limited to no more than 12 people. 

  • Campfires are not allowed.
