Silver Canyon offers free, dispersed camping options and is located close to the town of Bishop. To get to the area, follow Highway 6 away from Bishop, then turn right on Silver Canyon Road and pass through Laws, where there is a Railroad Museum. Continue up the road as it turns to gravel. Camping is allowed once you enter BLM land.

The Silver Canyon area offers plenty of space to camp, although there are few established campsites. Most of the area just offers flat, relatively unexciting space to camp. There are a few nice areas however, including a couple that are near a small stream. At a certain point (just after the stream) the gravel road turns to a 4x4 road - you’ll want to camp before this point unless you have a capable vehicle.

Many side roads can be explored that lead to other areas one can camp. On a clear day, the views from the Silver Canyon area are fantastic.

Note that there are no amenities here as this is free, dispersed camping. Please observe the 14 day camping limit, and keep a clean campsite.
