The Skyline Loop is a great short hike through Skyline Park in Susanville, CA. The loop offers some stunning views and is a great choice for those looking to get out on a short adventure close to town.

Begin the loop from a small parking area off Skyline Road. The trail follows a paved greenway path for the first section. Continue along the greenway as it descends slightly and provides great views.

Towards the bottom of the hill you’ll then turn left onto a dirt track and off the paved greenway. Follow this trail as it begins to ascend. There are a few junctions along the way, stay on the most obvious pathway, although all the different side trails will ultimately reconnect so you can’t really make a wrong turn!

The trail tops out atop a small hill where there is a memorial plaque and a fantastic view down to Susanville below.

Continue along and descend back down toward the trailhead where you began. You’ll then rejoin the paved greenway at the end of the loop.
