Wella’s Peak Loop is a 15-mile route in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains located outside of Altadena, California. The trail features rugged mountains, steep cliffs, and deep canyons. The hike can be done in a day or as an overnight backpacking trip and is suitable for running, hiking, backpacking, and mountain biking.

The journey starts from the Oak Grove Lower Parking Area, leading adventurers through the Arroyo Seco towards the summit of Wella's Peak, before descending via Brown Mountain Road back to the beginning.

Wella's Peak Loop presents a fulfilling opportunity to explore the natural beauty that lies on the doorstep of urban Pasadena and Altadena. With its combination of accessible valley paths and the challenge of a mountain ascent, it's an inviting adventure for those looking to immerse themselves in Southern California's diverse landscapes.

This route showcases a variety of Southern California's native flora and fauna, including Coast Live Oak, California Sycamore, chaparral communities, wildflowers, and more. Common animal sightings may include mule deer, coyotes, and the occasional bobcat. Smaller mammals like rabbits, squirrels, and various rodents are also prevalent. The Arroyo Seco and surrounding areas host several bird species, such as the acorn woodpecker, California quail, and red-tailed hawk. Migratory birds add variety depending on the season. Lizards, including the common western fence lizard, and snakes such as the gopher snake, may be encountered along the trail. Near water sources, one might find amphibians such as the Pacific tree frog.
