The Devils Punchbowl Walking Track is a short hike located in Arthur’s Pass National Park. This trail travels near a creek to a beautiful viewpoint of Devils Punchbowl Falls. This out and back hike is 1.2 miles long and gains 347 feet of elevation.

This hike starts from Devil's Punchbowl Car Park off of W Coast Rd. Begin hiking north on Arthur’s Pass Walking Track. You will be hiking in a valley with mountains on both sides. You will be able to see Devil’s Punchbowl Falls in the distance. Cross over Wardens Creek and continue for 0.1 miles to reach a junction. Take a right at the junction to stay on Arthur’s Pass Walking Track. Cross the bridge over Bealey River and go right at the next junction to take Devils Punchbowl Track.

Shortly after this, you will come to a junction with Cons Track and stay right to continue on Devils Punchbowl Track. You will then cross a bridge over Devils Punchbowl Creek. You will have a nice view of Devils Punchbowl Falls. Now, you will be hiking uphill in a forest. Most of the uphill will be on wooden stairs. After you have traveled 0.1 miles from the bridge, there will be a junction. Stay left on Devils Punchbowl Track. Continue hiking mostly uphill for 0.2 more miles to reach a viewing platform of Devils Punchbowl Falls. This is your best view of the 429 foot waterfall. You will also have a view of Devils Punchbowl Creek and mountains in the distance. Once you have taken ample time to enjoy the sights, turn around and retrace your steps to return to the parking area.

Arthur’s Pass National Park is open for hiking year round. There are no associated fees to hike here. Dogs are not allowed on this trail.
