Across the highway from Joffre Lakes Provincial Park is Cayoosh Mountain, another one of the Duffy Lake region's great ski zones. The Duffy Lake region sits at a higher elevation than Vancouver and Whistler, which means colder temps and higher snowfall. The area is renowned for big mountain skiing and killer terrain for miles.

Access starts right at the highway and is an easy skin up a forestry road for several kilometers. The road ends at the bottom of the Armchair Glacier, and from there you have multiple routes up. Skinning to the left leads to a more gradual route and takes you to some lower elevation ski areas along the route to the summit. A more direct line right up the guts is steep at the bottom and avalanche prone. Above that, however, the mountains open up, and there are multiple route options to multiple ski areas.

Skinning up farther to an obvious col will lead to a summit push to either of the twin summits or will gain you access to a high mountain plateau, where you can begin any one of many descents or high alpine tours.

Armchair Glacier is a true paradise for all types of skiers and offers all types of terrain and difficulty levels for the adventurer in you.
