In a part of the world that's known for persistent rain and cold winters, it's imperative to have access to some bit of warmth and wild that's available year round. Enter Bloedel Conservatory. This biodome is situated at the top of the hill in Queen Elizabeth Park. The walk to the dome provides great views of Vancouver, but the real thrill is inside the dome. The conservatory is home to over 200 exotic birds that fly freely through the more than 500 species of plants and flowers. The larger parrots tend to stick to their personal perches, but many of the smaller birds will be flitting about throughout. Quite a number also walk along the floor of the conservatory. A path winds through the tropical setting, which includes waterfalls. The resultant noise of birdsong and falling water is quite peaceful.

Admission provides visitors with a guide to the birds, and volunteers throughout the dome are more than willing to share their copious knowledge.

Membership to the garden provides free membership, otherwise the admission is $6.75 for adults, $4.50 for seniors and youths 13-18 years old. Children from 3-12 are $3.25. There are family rates as well.
