French Beach Campground is a well-maintained campground located within the 59-hectare French Beach Provincial Park 20 kilometers west of Sooke and 11 kilometers east of Jordan River. The campground offers 65 gravel vehicle-access campsites with paved roads throughout plus one group site located outside of the main campground. The group site can accommodate up to 50 people and features a covered area with electricity and hot water, a large grassy area for tents, and a gravel parking lot for RVs. All sites are reservable year round. Unlike most of the other campgrounds in the area, French Beach Campground is open through the winter months, although there are no running water, firewood, or sani-station facilities between November 1 and March 10 (the nightly rate is discounted during this period).

The beach is the main draw for visitors to this campground, and it features a 1.6-kilometer stretch of beautiful sand and pebbles as well as a grassy area with a playground and picnic facilities for day users. All are accessible via several short trails directly out of the campground. Visitors can enjoy views of the Olympic Mountains across the Strait of Juan de Fuca as well as various wildlife viewing opportunities including migratory shorebirds, bald eagles and ospreys, and marine life including seals, sea lions, and sea otters. If you're very lucky you may even catch a glimpse of a few resident orcas and migrating gray whales in the spring and fall. There are also 2 kilometers of hiking trails through salt marsh and second-growth coastal rainforest that connect with the beach for a nice afternoon stroll.
