Porpoise Bay Provincial Park and Campground is an ideal place to stay while visiting B.C.'s Sunshine Coast. Situated on the western bank of the Sechelt Inlet, the park has numerous activities in the immediate area and many more within close proximity.
The park has a long stretch of beach for swimming that gives paddlers access to the inlet and is also home to chum and coho salmon spawning grounds. There are trails that lead you from the beach along the rivers to watch the salmon as they swim upstream to spawn. The park has a large day use area with picnic tables, playgrounds, trails and an amphitheater.
Within the campground there are washroom and shower buildings on either end, several communal fire pits, well distributed vault toilets, and some grassy fields for activities. The sites are enclosed by tall second-growth forest, and most sites are fairly large and private. Each site has a picnic table but no fire ring. Fires are restricted to the communal fire pits.
There is cyclist camping with room for about 10 tents for a lesser fee of $13. Regular sites are closed in the off season, but there are about six or seven drive-up spots without utilities that are available for no fee.
There are hiking and biking trails that leave right from the campground, kayaking and water sports available right from the beach, and world class biking just down the road. This place is a headquarters for adventure.
