Riverside Resort is the only place to camp legally within the boundaries of the municipality of Whistler. Located just a 15-minute walk from Whistler Village, it is a far cry from true wilderness camping (amenities include full washrooms with showers and heated floors, laundry service, Wi-Fi, a convenience store, a cafe, a playground, and a mini-golf course). However, it is tucked away in a surprisingly tranquil location on the banks of Fitzsimmons Creek in Whistler’s Spruce Grove subdivision. The resort is open year round and offers a variety of accommodations ranging from walk-in tent sites to full service RV sites, yurts, and log cabins. Convenience is this campground’s most appealing attribute, being surrounded by recreational opportunities such as Whistler’s renowned 27-hole disc golf course, the Lost Lake hiking and mountain biking trail network (which become snowshoeing and cross-country skiing trails during winter), and, of course, skiing and biking on the resort at Whistler Blackcomb (the campground offers a free shuttle service to and from the ski hill). Campers also enjoy easy access to Lost Lake Park, the Green Lake spit, Meadow Park recreation center, and the Nicklaus North Golf Course.

The campground is divided into several loops on both sides of Fitzsimmons Creek. There are 105 full-hookup sites, 37 tent-only sites (4 of which are group sites), 14 multi-use sites with power and water, 14 cabins, and 10 yurts. In general, the areas on the far side of the creek are slightly more secluded but less convenient for access to the store/cafe and other services. However, the walk-in tent sites along the river provide a little more privacy and authentic camping feel. Be sure to stop in for breakfast at the cafe, a favorite for locals who prefer to avoid the hustle and bustle of the village.
