Nestled within the impressive Belcarra Regional Park just outside of Port Moody lies Sasamat Lake. This year-round trail and outdoor area is the perfect place for families in search of a weekend picnic spot or anyone who is looking for a quick getaway from the city.

The parking lot is located near the northeast end of the lake at White Pine Beach. This sandy beach offers many picnic tables, washrooms, water fountains, and even a concession stand. Everything you need for a relaxing day.

From the beach you'll also find the start of a well-maintained trail that loops around the lake. The trail winds it's way through an old-growth forest crowded with many Douglas fir and large cedar trees, among many other species. At the south end you'll find a floating bridge that crosses the span of the lake. The bridge has a couple of docks built into it, making it great spot to toss in a fishing line or to jump in for a quick swim.

As you continue your walk around the lake you'll be greeted by many lookouts through the trees and tiny beaches with views of the surrounding mountains. The northwest side of the lake is home to the Sasamat Outdoor Club, which offers outdoor programs for many community groups and local schools.

The short length of the trail and the beauty of the surrounding area makes this loop perfect for an afternoon stroll. The park can be very busy though; it's recommended to show up early during the summer and on weekends if you want to claim a spot for the day.
