Three Brothers Mountain is a great objective for winter and spring ski touring. Located in the heart of Manning Park in Southern B.C., it is accesible from Vancouver, the Okanagan, and U.S. Three Brothers provides alpine views with easy route finding in ATES simple avalanche terrain.

This adventure doesn't pack crazy elevation, but the long distance requires an early start. At the first fork, stay right, and after crossing the bridge over the Similkameen River stay right again. There is signage with maps along the way to help—follow the "Fat Dog Trail." As you gain the ridge around 6.5 kilometers, the forest opens up to reveal an amazing panorama.

Stick to the ridge as you approach the col southwest of Three Brothers. From there, ascend the final southwest ridge of Three Brothers Mountain. Evaluate conditions carefully and be wary of cornices on the ridge.

Come with your skis waxed. The descent is relaxed with no pitches greater than 25 degrees for very long. Enjoy surrounding views of Mount Frosty, Mount Outram, and the rest of the North Cascades. Other suitable objectives, depending on conditions, are Burnt Knoll and Big Buck Mountain. This trip can be combined with a stop at the Manning Park Ski Area for some resort laps as well.
